WORK REPORT:

This two day weekend began with working on a farm at Fenny Bentley, just outside Ashbourne. The peak Park are helping the farmer of this site with conservation which is funded by a Countryside Stewardship grant. We cleared several Hawthorne trees and opened up an area of land that will eventually be grazed and flowers will grow. We had a nice fire too, good job as it rained heavily at times. The second day we were coppicing silver birch on Froggatt Edge. The plan was to open up the area to allow the growth of heather and bilberry, two plants that have been over grazed in the Peaks over the last century. There was no fire but there sun was out all day.

Jan 31st, Two big trees meeet their end.

Jan 31st. Production line, wood is dragged to the fire and then loaded on.

1st Feb. The DCV doing what the DCV do best, taking a break for tea and biscuits at Froggatt Edge.
