WORK REPORT:

It's a nice change to be able to get out into the countryside. We are in Etwall on the site of the disused railway which has been converted into a bridleway going from Mickleover to Egginton. The Foot and Mouth precautions have closed this route but we have special permission to work on the path subject to use of disinfectant etc.

We are planting along the southern edge of the bridleway which borders three houses. After discussion with the local residents we decided to plant mainly rose, hawthorn, blackthorn and a few beech along the hundred metre stretch. Charlie, Stuart and David set to at the northern end and Naomi, Chris and the Shipley Ranger David started at the southern end.

By mid afternoon we had finished planting and as there were no tree guards or stakes to put in, we were all done by three pm!
