WORK REPORT:

(type, quantity, quality, location)

On this boiling hot day, the hottest of the year so far our task was to fence the top end of the wildlife area being created for the groups of children that will be visiting the farm in the future. After a lengthy discussion regarding the platform to be built eventually over the wildlife pond we set to work. In addition to the fencing we were also thinning out the small trees growing along the right hand side of the area - to stop them growing into the telegraph wire above. Before the new fence went up we had to rip out the previous scabby old rusty affair, which was partially buried in the ground. It was hard work in the heat but Beryl came up trumps - providing us with orange juice and cake, a life saver. After lunch we dragged ourselves back to work, which was hard and cracked on with the new fence, Beryl was interested to observe our fencing technique, slightly worrying, but she insisted and was intrigued by the monkey strainer - aren't we all! As a reward for our hard work she brought us ice lollies and cold drinks, we were certainly well looked after on the refreshment front. There is still some fencing to be done along the left side of the area for some time in the future.
