This task involved felling some hawthorn and elder trees which had grown up along the stream which runs through the meadow. This will allow the riverside plants to grow back as they had been overshadowed. This is all part of the Shipley park plan which has been drawn up since the meadow was put into their care. As the meadow must be kept unfertile there was unfortunately no chance of a fire today. John the ranger will be back with a very large chipper to remove the trees cut down today. The day was enjoyable with excellent weather, although it not so warm for Chris after he fell in the water ! |
