WORK REPORT:

(type, quantity, quality, location)

We were supposed to be working on Forbes Hole today but ended up at Fox Covert near West Park leisure centre at Long Eaton, as the probationers had been getting there teeth into coppicing at Forbes Hole.

A brisk cold start to today's task of bashing scrub beneath the trees along the strides on Fox Covert. The strides are wide grass paths that provide the right environment for some species of butterfly. We were removing alder and horse chestnut as well as slashing right back some hefty brambles.

We got quite a bit done despite the low numbers of volunteers. We will be revisiting this site next year to finish what we have started.
